Christmas, Chocolate, and Community

Guests interested in Providence Academy attended the festive event of Christmas Story Time and Hot Chocolate on December 13. This admissions event took place for the second year in a row and allowed visitors to explore the Providence in a unique way, through holidays crafts and other merry activities.

The Statue of Mary adorned with seasonal poinsettias and Christmas trees welcomes guests into the building.

Helen Foley ‘22 has been a member of PA’s Student Ambassadors club, which allows students to participate in various admissions events, for four years. Foley remarked, “The event allowed students and parents to get to know [our librarian] Mrs. Commers and helped them feel to feel welcome here.”

Foley also commented, “Providence’s admissions events allow prospective students and parents to see Providence firsthand and interact with the supportive community that is so integral to each student’s experience”. This admissions event was intentionally welcomed guests to PA in an informal, conversational setting. While its main focus was on the children’s’ experience, parents were able to see how the engaging surroundings of Providence play a principal role in day-to-day life.

After Mrs. Commers, read a Christmas Story aloud to the young guests, the event continued with a surprise visit from Santa. This special appearance sparked joy for all in attendance and displayed the PA spirit in yet another way.

Guests at PA’s Story time and Hot Chocolate last Friday enjoyed some craft time before an brief informational session and optional tours of the school

Mrs. Sally Nathe, Admissions Coordinator at PA, stated, “The event was less formal than others and thus allowed guests to feel more at ease”. The open and welcoming setting informed guests about PA and still offered optional, more structured tours.

Mrs. Debra Spears, Director of Admissions, commented, “This event commemorates a celebratory season that many people relate to and in which they can readily engage”. This season is one of the most important and blessed times at PA, and the admissions community warmly welcomed guests by showing them the caring and fundamental qualities of Providence’s message.
