Competing with the Osseo High School team, Joe Beaman ’14 is the only PA member on the Boys Swim and Dive team. Beaman swims for the Osseo Swim and Dive team. Being the only student from Providence, he competes with others from Osseo, Heritage and Maranatha.

When asked about what it is like swimming with boys from other schools he said, “All the guys are great friends and our pre-meet pasta parties/COD fests are a blast.”

He has been swimming competitively for seven years, but he has only been swimming for a high school team for five years.

Beaman was asked about why he started swimming, he replied, “I started swimming in 2004 after the summer olympics and Michael Phelps inspired me to stop playing video games and be active.”

Beaman’s expectations were set high for the season. “My expectations for this season are to get into the top 16 backstrokes at Sections and be on one of the state relays,” he said.

Even though Beaman is the only boy on the team this year, there have been others in the past who have swam competitively. Alumni and West Point Cadet Charlie Christianson ’13 and Patrick Buelher ’14 have competed in the past.

Beaman is looking forward to an exciting senior swimming season.
