A synthesis of The Hunger Games and Assassins has arrived at Providence Academy, and it’s called “Marked”.

All Upper Schoolers at PA received a name on Monday that told them who their “target” was. Throughout the week, students try to “mark” that person, and if they’re successful, their new assignment is their previous assignment.

If students find out who is trying to mark them, they can either walk away or mark them so that they can be safe for 5 minutes.

If students don’t mark their targets within a day, a Gamemaker is assigned to mark them. There is no protection from a Gamemaker.

Seniors finished their game of Marked on Tuesday, with Meggan Peters ’14 and Ashley Wolf ’14 calling a tie.

“We’re taking it very seriously,” John Ogren ’14 said of the senior class’s involvement in the game.

Other classes have had little participation in the game, and no winners have been named.

Monica Luxem ’15 said she doesn’t think anybody besides the seniors are taking it seriously.

The game will conclude on Friday at 3:15 pm and the champions of each grade will be named.
